Even if we try our best to avoid them, emergencies do happen.
Here at Sydney Road Family Dental we understand this and that is why we always reserve two appointment spots each day for people with dental emergencies.
A dental emergency can range from things like a raging toothache, swelling, a broken or fractured tooth, a lost crown, a knocked out tooth or broken dentures.
If you have a dental emergency please give us a call right away on (02) 8042 0130 so we can get you in as soon as possible.
Please contact (000) for life-threatening emergencies.
Depending on the emergency, there are several things you can do to help lessen it’s severity.
- If you are feeling any kind of pain, painkillers such as Ibuprofen or Paracetamol are recommended, but do not exceed the maximum dosage.
- If you have a lost crown, it should be re-cemented quickly to avoid damage or the possible need for a root canal.
- Any knocked out teeth should be re-implanted into their sockets immediately. Do not try to handle the tooth root in the event of a knocked out tooth. You can either place the tooth in cold milk, or on one side of your mouth between your teeth and cheeks. Whatever you do, do not place the tooth in water.
- Broken dentures are usually an easy fix, but please do not try to glue them back together yourself as that will often make the repairs difficult.
